Educational environments must continuously evolve and adapt to meet the shifting demands of the contemporary landscape. To address these needs, the Port Allegany School District partnered with EI Associates to explore a series of strategic architectural enhancements aimed at modernizing their facilities and improving campus security. These projects represent a proactive approach to future-proofing learning and athletic environments.
High School Security Vestibule & ADA Integration
Collaborating as part of a specialized four-person team, I utilized Revit 2024 to model and develop a sophisticated security vestibule for the high school. The primary challenge involved reconciling modern security requirements with ADA accessibility, as the existing layout required navigating several sets of stairs to reach the main office floor.
Our solution creatively repurposed the existing entrance curtain wall, partitioning a section to create a curtain wall vestibule. By isolating this entrance from other access points and integrating a dedicated corridor to a vertical lift, we successfully provided barrier-free access for all students, staff, and visitors while significantly enhancing the school's security perimeter.
Athletic Infrastructure: Stadium Fieldhouse
In addition to academic safety, the district sought to elevate their athletic facilities to better support student-athletes and the community. Under the guidance of a senior project manager, I led the architectural design for a new fieldhouse at the district’s existing stadium. This project focused on creating a modern sports venue that reflects the district’s commitment to providing comprehensive, high-quality environments for both education and athletics.
To enhance clarity and communicate the design intent, the project utilizes a range of professional visualizations, including aerial site overlays and axonometric views generated in Revit 2024. These graphics illustrate the fieldhouse’s optimal positioning and orientation, which were strategically determined to maximize functional synergy with the stadium and leverage key vantage points.
